Callahan Property Group is proud to recognize the Central Okanagan Food Bank as it launches its $5.5 million capital campaign for the new Food Rescue and Transformation Centre in Kelowna.
The campaign represents an important step in addressing two growing challenges facing our communities: food insecurity and food waste. The planned facility will expand the Food Bank’s ability to recover, process, and distribute fresh food that would otherwise be lost from the food chain, helping more nutritious food reach individuals and families who need it most.
For Callahan Property Group, this initiative aligns closely with values we have long shared. In 2024, we committed $90,000 over three years to support the fuel costs associated with the Central Okanagan Food Bank’s food rescue program, helping keep its fleet on the road collecting and distributing recovered food throughout the region.
What inspires us about the Food Rescue program is its practical approach to solving a community challenge. By working with local grocery retailers, farmers, and food partners, the program recovers surplus perishable food and redirects it back into the community rather than allowing it to become waste.
The new Food Rescue and Transformation Centre will expand that impact across the Central Okanagan. We are grateful to the Central Okanagan Food Bank team, volunteers, donors, and community partners whose efforts continue to make a meaningful difference across our region.
